

The department has three languages (English, Russian, Japanese).
The English major is a four-year undergraduate course, including
trade English and tourism English. In light of the current situations
and its advantages, the department has put its main efforts and
researches in translation and literature and linguistics as the
principal research objects.
The department has paid great attention to the construction of
the academic group. Every year, 2 or three teachers are sent out
for further study in key national universities to gain master¨s
degrees or as the visiting scholars. In 2003, one doctor in comparative
literature has been invited as the full time professor.
Now there are 2 professors, 8 associate professors, and 19 lecturers.
Among them, there are 1 doctor and 24 masters. Taking the middle-aged
professors and the lecturers as the teaching mainstay, the senior
and young teachers form a teaching and academic circle of high level.
The teachers have also published more than 30 books and 50 theses
in key periodicals provincially and nationally; they also finished
20 scientific researches, and won 30 prizes.
