The department now offers two specialties, namely Electronic Science and Technology and Material Physics. There are two experiment centers in the department, including physics, electronic science and material experiment centers. It has 33 faculties and staffs at present, and among them, more than 40% have senior professional and technical titles, more than 1/3 have master’s degrees. With the persistent themes of “ love, professional sincerity, study devotion and truth seeking”, the faculty members will forge ahead and commit themselves to constantly improving the level and quality of teaching and scientific research.

　　While finishing heavy teaching tasks, the department has recently completed 1 joint project by the State Natural Science Foundation, taking charge of 6 projects of the Natural Science Foundation by the Science and Technology Department and the Education Department of Henan Province, and has gained 1 project from the Provincial Institutions of Higher learning Young Key Teachers Financial Aid Program and a number of major teaching reform projects from the Science and Research Foundation of Zhengzhou Institute of Light Industry. The research projects that have passed appraisements not only reached a leading standard, but also were reported by many news media and produced outstanding social influence and benefit

　　Papers written and published by the faculty members have made some influences, many of which have been searched and included by the three major search institutions (SCI, EI, ISTP).

　　While taking on specialty courses, the department also takes on the basic course teaching of physics of the institute and such optional courses as Modern Physics Experiment, Physics History, Modern Physics and High Technology, among which, College Physics and Physics Experiment are the Provincial Excellent Courses all the time in years.
