The department has two undergraduate specialties:
social work and law. The former got off to an early start and is in
a leading position among its counterparts in other universities in
Henan Province. Young and vigorous, the excellent teacher group of
this department has a reasonable knowledge and age frame. The department
has altogether 31 faculties and staff, including four administrators
and assistants and 27 professional teachers among whom nine are professors
and associate professors, three are doctors and eighteen are masters.
The department locates in a beautiful setting. Both the trees and
the perfect infrastructure contribute to the elegant and suitable
environment for teaching and study. It has built a mock court with
the most complete functions and advanced equipments among the colleges
and universities of Henan Province, a electronic reading system for
law resources and a social work reference room with large amount of
books and various of periodicals. Meanwhile, a social work lab (testing
center for data analysis) is under construction.
The department attaches great importance to scientific research
and continually carries out its academic exchanges in a broad scope
and scores great success. In recent years, teachers of the department
have undertaken fifteen cross-province scientific research subjects,
including two supported by the State Social Science Fund. 61 monographs
and textbooks and 260 academic papers were published, among which
12 were the national authoritative special issues.
The department enhances with great effort the morale of the department
that students must study extensively with set purposes and be modest
to ask and think more. In the light of the special features of this
major, all kinds of activities are carried out concerning the professional
culture, physical and community service, such as humanistic lectures,
academic salons, mock courts, social surveys, etc. All these activities
help to create a humanistic atmosphere for students to improve their
comprehensive qualities and complete the knowledge frame. Since 2002,
the passing rates of CET-4, CET-6 and national computer level examination
have exceeded the average numbers of all the universities. Lots of
students have gained honor in the ＾Challenge Cup￣ Scientific and Technological
Works Contest for College Students, summer social practice, College
Students Science, Culture and Art Festival, Law Knowledge Competition
and Speaking English Contest. |
